Living Interface 2015
Primary care is one of the most resistant crossings in human experience — the space between a person in need and the system built to serve that need. Westerdokters rebuilt that crossing from the inside: digital access, longer consults, a lean practice structure that could reach where no local doctor existed.
The architecture preceded the acceptance. That pattern was familiar.
Enzyme
Living Interface 1999
Enzyme was a living interface for a computing field that did not yet exist. Digital cells emitting enzymes, resources moving without command, a network that self-organized because the architecture made it possible.
The world was not ready but my concept was.
Chronos
Living Interface 1996
Three sculptural interfaces created with gray board painted to carry the appearance of brass, copper, and mesh — each holding a working clock at its center, each a different state of the same crossing between containment and motion. Made in 1996 while processing the aftermath of war — and creating my interface.
This interface was my connection with the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.

A handcrafted personal computer created in 1980 that intuitively grasped what the entire technology industry was struggling to understand: personal computing should serve authentic human needs through well-designed interfaces. Designed from authentic need with whatever was at hand.
